giant banana

At Kennywood, I won a stuffed giant banana. It’s kind of strange, but I really like it. It looks kind of like the moon. I have often taken it to bed with me, but it’s hard to sleep with because it’s so huge. It always ends up on the floor by morning. I like my giant banana.

10 second song

I have an album of songs by They Might Be Giants called Here Comes Science. In it, there is a ten second song called Here Comes Science. You can buy it on Itunes for about $1.50, which I think is way overpriced for a ten second song. That means it’s 15c per second. I wonder if Itunes will ever change the price to something more reasonable.

burn hydrogen

Recently, I’ve been thinking about trying to burn a hydrogen. I will get the hydrogen by using electrolysis. Running electricity through water is electrolysis. The water molecules split into oxygen and hydrogen atoms. The hydrogen goes to the negatively charged wire and the oxygen goes to the positively charged wire. After I capture the hydrogen I will burn it. I think it will look very interesting.

Apple vs. Microsoft

When it comes to computers, the two biggest companies are Apple and Microsoft. They have some similarities and differences. They are both very successful companies focused mainly on software. However, there are a lot of differences. Microsoft mostly just makes software but Apple also makes its own hardware. On computers, Microsoft makes more complex software which allows you to do more things, while Apple makes simpler software that is much easier to understand. For apple’s software, you have to buy their computers which cost more than the average computer. These are two very different companies with very different software.

There are also other things besides computer software these companies make. Apple made a whole line of handheld devises. First were the Ipod’s. They were simply mp3 players; the later ones also able to play movies and games. Then there was the Iphone. It could play songs and movies just like the Ipod’s. It even had a phone, but what really made it special was the app system. You could download anything made by anyone. With the touch screen and the ability to sense movement, it’s a great gaming device. The only thing bad about it is the screen is only about 3" x 2".

Just after the Iphone came the Ipod Touch. It’s just an Iphone without the phone part. Very recently, Apple made the Ipad. It is like and Ipod Touch, just much bigger. Microsoft, on the other hand, hasn’t made much. To compete with the Ipad, I believe Microsoft made a tablet PC. It has barely any popularity and most people don’t know about it. Apple is clearly the better handheld device maker.

Netbook

I just got a Netbook today for a slightly late birthday present from my dad. I am very excited and I want to try it out, but I need to charge it for eight hours before the first use. The instructions say that for the maximum battery capacity, I’ll need to completely fill up and completely drain the battery. I think I’ll mostly use the Netbook for school work and programming. I like to program in C++ a lot. I really like my new Netbook and I’m dying to try it out.

Cellcraft

I recently came across a free online flash game that I really like. It’s called Cellcraft. In that game you are a cell that must survive and complete the goal. It is a fun and challenging game that also teaches you some about cells. The game also has a great storyline and in the end you save the platypus race. It is a neat game.

I don't want to write

I don’t want to write a paragraph. I really don’t, but I have to write one everyday that I’m with my mom. Writing a paragraph is hard so I don’t want to do it. Oh look, my paragraph’s done. I’ll go to bed now.

Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH

The book I was talking about in the last entry is called Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH. The story starts off with Mrs. Frisby in her winter home, a cinderblock in the middle of a garden. She has to move to her summer home in five days because that’s when the owners of the field will plow it. Unfortunately, one of her sons is sick and wouldn’t be able to survive walking to their summer home. Mrs. Frisby goes to the rats of NYMH for help. They move her winter house and tell her their past. They were captured by a laboratory and experimented on to make them smarter, but they escaped. The book ends with the rats of NYMH moving away and Mrs. Frisby and her children wondering what happened. This is a really good book and I recommend it to everyone.

Basic Paragraph Structure

Basic Paragraph Structure

A paragraph, like many things, has a structure; a structure that you should learn. The previous sentence is a topic sentence. It opens up the paragraph and introduces the topic. After that, there are at least three details. They are the body of the paragraph and they provide information about the topic. The last sentence in a paragraph is the closing sentence. It closes up the paragraph, sometimes restating the topic in the process. Then the paragraph is done. That is its structure.

Rat Civilization

Rat Civilization

Much of the rat population lives on the edge of human civilization. Those rats live a simple life, digging holes in people’s homes and steal food, but what happens when you mix rats with intelligence like that of a human? I read about something like this in a book. At first, the intelligent rats lived the same type of life as the normal rats did, stealing everything they needed from humans, but to the intelligent rats, this type of life was much easier for them than the normal rats. Their intelligence made finding food much easier, but they were aware of how much wrong they were doing in stealing everything, and if the human race died, how would they ever survive? They wanted to change the way they lived so that it would not involve stealing. They took up farming as the first step toward an independent rat civilization.

Over the summer, my mom is making me to write a paragraph every day. This is so that, over the summer, I don’t forget everything I learned in school about writing because I’m not writing and using the knowledge I learned. I think it’s a good idea, but it’s pretty hard to find time to write a paragraph each day. My mom came up with the idea of starting a blog to post some of my writings so I could get feed back on what I write. I thought I was a good idea so I started this blog and started posting paragraphs on it like this one. Like this paragraph? This system is working out pretty well so far, so I think for the rest of this summer I’ll have a paragraph posted now and then. This was a pretty good idea.

Keyboards

The keyboard is a useful tool when using a computer. You can’t write an essay on a computer without it. A lot of programs use the keyboard. You definitely need a keyboard to surf the web because how else would you type in the web address? The keyboard is necessary.
